E-trading means electronic trading The term refers to purchase or sale of securities made with computers, lately also with smartphone devices, usually via the internet. Investors taking advantage of e-trading place their orders and manage their portfolios online. They just need to login to a website and can enter their transactions. After that orders are routed to the brokerages.

E-trading has become very popular over the last couple of years as electronic trades are executed very quickly, the commission rates are much lower than those of regular brokers.
