International finance is the branch of economics that studies exchange rates, foreign investments, and how these two affect international trade. On the other hand, financial interactions among countries are also described as international finance. These transactions include international payments and the exchange of currency.

Important institutions of international finance are the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Monetary Fund.
