Canadian securities regulation

What's the definition?

Canadian Securities are the financial products traded in Canada by the properly licensed investment dealers in behalf of private and public investors in an open financial market.

 

This trading is regulated by the two levels of government, Federal and Provincial, and has particular rules in the Province of Quebec.

 

The Canadian Securities Industry is as well a self-regulated activity by the IDA (Investment Dealers Association), the CBA (Canadian Bankers Association or Association des banquiers canadiens, in Quebec), the CAIFA (Canadian Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors) and Advocis (Financial Advisors Associatons of Canada).
