Help-Wanted Index Definition
Help-Wanted Index (HWI) is an index that summarizes the number of job advertisements in major American newspapers and the areas in which companies offer employment opportunities. The index shows the general strength or weakness of the national labor market by providing information on how many positions need to be filled. The job market index is published monthly by the Conference Board.
