Irrevocable Stock or Bond Power Definition

An instrument that affects the sale, assignment, and transfer of stock to a designated person and appoints a designated person's attorney to transfer the stock on the books of the corporation. Stock certificates usually contain a stock power in blank on their reverse side. The appended form is the assignment, separate from the certificate, that is approved by the New York Stock Exchange.
