Ticker Tape

Ticker Tape Definition

Ticker Tape originally referred to means of transmitting commodity or security price information over telegraph lines. It consisted of a continuous thin ribbon of paper that ran through a machine called a stock ticker or news ticker, which printed abbreviated company symbols followed by price, volume, and other trading and market information.  Exchanges operated their information services on private leased wires available on a subscription basis.
