V-trend

What's the definition?

The v-trend statistic of a stock is the percent change of a stock's value in a day compared to the percent change in a related index's percent change for that day, and averaged over a certain period of days.

The v-trend was created to see how historically how much the stock price acted "on its own", compared to the movement of the related index price. This highlights the effects of investor knowledge on the movement of stocks.
