Product Description

She explained the trouble with Valentine's Day (as if you didn't know!) Now Rachel Gibson tells all about . . .

Sex . . .

What is it about men anyway? Bad cars, bad jobs, even bad teeth—nothing convinces them that they can't snare a Size Two Babe with a D-cup chest. And after way too many internet dates with men named "luvstick" and "bigdaddy182," Lucy Rothschild should know.

Lies . . .

But sitting across from her now is "hardluvnman," and he seems different—sensitive, honest, and hot! He says he's a plumber, while Lucy claims she's a nurse! She's really a mystery writer, dating online while researching her next book. Hey, everyone lies a little, don't they?

And Online Dating . . .

But Quinn's really an undercover cop hunting down a serial killer, and he sees Lucy as his top suspect. And while he could really go for this smart, sexy woman with the killer bod—if that's the only thing "killer" about her—he knows he needs to wine and dine her and discover the truth. Hey, he realizes the dating scene can be deadly—but this is ridiculous!

5 out of 5 starsGreat Book, 2008-10-22
This was my first Rachel Gibson book I ever read. I got it as a present for my birthday and first I was not very eager to read it. But after a while it kind of fall into my hands again and I started the book. And from that second I was under the spell of Rachel Gibson and her romance novels. I have to admit that I am a very romantic person and romantic poems or books get me very easily. But with the stories of Rachel Gibson there is more to it, than just that.
The way she writes, the way she depicts the characters and the story is in my opinion unique in comparrison to other authors. I have read all her books by now (in the moment reading the newest one) and even though I have to admit that the story and the way of the characters is unsually very similar in each book, she succeds in enthuse the reader simply with her writing talent. Her funny, interesting way of writing makes her books a joy to read and in my case it makes me ignore that many of her books do not vary very much in concern of the stories and the outcome in the end.

Concerning Sex Lies and Online Dating I can say, that this is the first of so far four books. It covers the story of one of four women authors struggeling to find the right man in there lifes. While Lucy is writing one of her new mystery novels she digs into the life of online dating and accidently starts to fall for a man named Quinn who in true life is an undercover cop suspecting her to be a serial killer. While going on dating both very soon find it hard, to forget about the other and the already twisted and turned story adds another twist as Quinn starts to have problems parting his personal feelings from his work.

In my opinion Rachel Gibson is a very good author writing funny, interesting, romance novels. And even though some my not want to read more that one book by her, because they may find it boring, I suggest, that at least one book should be read and for this I suggest the one, which was also my very first: Sex, Lies and online Dating.

2 out of 5 starsVery Disappointing, 2008-09-02
I thought the book was dragging and disappointing. Lucy is supposed to be a best-selling mystery writer but...she had no idea what all those buttons are for in police car! She's never fired a gun! I write mysteries for a living. I've not only ridden in a squad car, I've driven one. I made it my business to know what all the buttons are for and yes, I can release the shotgun at a moments notice. I have shot guns in competition and made it my business to fire different models and calibers. I stopped reading the book at that point. I, too, was put off by all the product endorsements.

5 out of 5 starsMy favorite of the series, 2008-07-28
Loved this one! I read them totally out of order (4th, 3rd, then 1st & 2nd), but it really didn't matter. I liked that this one had a small suspenseful plot to it (whereas the others did not). I definitely recommend this one!

Could barely get through this book - bored me to tears. Don't think the author ever participated in online dating as it portrayed it as dull and full of people who lie and are undesirable. Boring book - best to give it a miss.

Sex Lies and online Dating was a fun read: I enjoyed the story and the suspense. This is the first book in a 4 book series: detailing the life of one of four friends.
