I have read all the books in the Mitford series by Jan Karon and loved Father Tim. When I saw this book in the library, I brought it home. Read two pages, went to my computer and immediately ordered it from Amazon. It is too good to read through like a story. I particularly like the style, some items "handwritten", some on "sticky notes", some torn from a books, others typewritten on Father Tim's old sticky "i" typewriter.
Each tidbit gives food for thought, a reminder, a touch to the heart. I have made it a part of my daily devotions. Sometimes reading one item, sometimes several that are linked together. The gardener in me responds to Emily Dickenson's I am a Rose, other items make me smile and other make me THINK.
A good book to have on your bedside table or anywhere you have just a moment to spare for a smile or a thought.

Very Enjoyable, 2006-11-03
This is a great book and I enjoyed reading all of father Tim's sayings. It just makes the Mitford series seem more real. Highly recommend. Great fun reading with a seriousness to it.

Excellent Collection of Quotes, 2006-01-09
I've never read the first word of any of Jan Karon's books (which says nothing of her abilities.) I just happened to pick up this book at the "new book" section of the local library, took it home and was enthralled with the collection of quotes from various authors. And that's all the book is--quotes. But, I was so impressed with the book that I bought a copy for myself to keep and have lent it out to others.
If you want an excellent book to "jog" your spirituality or for meditation, this is a very good place to start. It is obvious that Karon has picked some of the cream of christian quotes. The book lends itself to skipping around or just read it page after page, which lends to the fun of the book.

Spiritual Delight, 2005-07-21
Anyone who is a fan of Father Tim and his Chrisitian insights and appreciates the wisdom of others that he finds in his life, will appreciate Jan Karon's clever presentation in this book. Pretty enough for your table, whether coffe or bedside, this little book is a jewel. One really feels that you have something of Father Tim's own journal, and you share some private and special insight into the thoughts of Mitford's best-loved shepherd of souls. From the first flyleaf where Father Tim writes his name, through the post-it notes and asides written in the margins, this is uplifting reading whenever the need for a great thought arises. Adding to the uniqueness of the volume are several blank pages at the end to which the reader can add personal quotes and insights. All of the the publishing information is placed at the end of the journal also. The volume makes a great gift for special friends that share your life and the love of the Mitford series.
