Product Description Danny Walker may be the smallest kid on the basketball court, but no one has a bigger love of the game, or a better sense of how to hit the open player with the perfect pass. Then the local travel team—the same travel team Danny’s dad, Richie Walker, led to the national championship on ESPN when he was a kid— cuts Danny because of his height. But Danny isn’t about to give up on basketball. It turns out that he’s not the only kid who was cut for the wrong reasons. Now Danny and his dad are about to give all the castoffs a second chance and prove that you can’t measure heart.

Loved it!, 2008-12-14 Danny is a boy who has a love for basketball. Danny's parents had just got divorced. Danny and his father never really had a close relationship. Danny's father use to be a professional basketball player until his car accident that ended his career. He then relocated to California.
Danny tries out for the towns travel basketball team, The Vikings. Danny doesn't make the team. Danny's father decides to come back to town to start his own travel team, The Warriors, for Danny and all the other kids that didn't make the Vikings. Danny's bad luck continues as his team was on a losing streak. His father gets into another bad car accident which prevents him from coaching the Warriors any further. The Warriors season may have to end. Danny's luck changes when he is elected to coach his team and leads them into the championships.
I won't reveal the ending of this book because it was full of surprises tht kept me interested until the very end. I think this book is a great read for anyone.

Travel Team, 2008-10-19 Travel Team is a great book to read. It is about a kid who is shorter than everybody else but does not give up. The boy's name id Danny Walker and he loves basketball. He would put basketball before everything. He would always pratice in his driveway. Danny tried out for the basketball team called the vikings but they said he was too short. Danny's dad and mom are divorced and he lives with his mom. Danny and his mom live in Middletown. Danny did not see his dad for a long time and his dad randomly just shows up. Danny's dad is thinking about coaching a basketball team. He does get a basketball team together. Danny's dad's name is Richie Walker and his mom's name is Ali Walker. In the beginning the basketball team was doing horrible but at the end Ty Ross joined the team and the team started to do better. Richie got into a car accident and had to have surgery. So Richie could not coach and Danny would be the new coach.Thier team was called the Warriors. They beat Hanesbro to vs. the vikings for the championship.

A. Parker's Book Review, 2008-04-10 Travel Team by Mike Lupica is about a boy named Danny Walker who is said to be too short to play on the basketball travel team, so he tries to prove everybody wrong. Then he and his dad create their own team. Pre-teens who like basketball will want to read this book.
Readers looking for a book about basketball will enjoy this book. This book would probably be better for boys. The characters and the setting seemed real. The conflict seemed like it could happen to someone in the same situation. While there is some inappropriate language, it makes the characters seem real. Overall this was a great book because it had a lot of detail to help make pictures in the readers mind.

K. Cox's book review, 2008-04-10 Travel Team by Mike Lupica is an exciting book about a twelve year old boy named Danny. Danny is a very good basketball player who has been cut from his team because he is too short. Danny and his father form their own team from the other children who were cut and have a shot at beating the Vikings.
Travel Team is a very exciting and funny book. The only with the book is that it used some words that it could have done without such as the cursing. The Travel Team is worth reading because it has a great plot and Mike Lupica uses third person narration which is makes me feel like I'm there with Danny and it is usually easier to understand, which makes it a great book for kids.
