excellent resource, 2008-11-03
This is a great resource for parents wanting to instill a love for literature in their children. It obviously cannot include all worthy books but it is a remarkable guide.

This changed my attitude toward reading..., 2008-10-25
I read this book about 20 years ago, having just met the author. My children were 8 and 11. I'd read books to them some. But it wasn't until I read this book that I realized the formative impact that books make on the minds, imaginations and faith of children... of all ages! I tried to "catch up with my own children". But I also vowed to read more to my grandchildren and give this book, whenever possible, to a new mother or family. This is about the 4th printing, with updates of titles that are good for children, from newborn to teens. She writes a good anotation with each book, recommending and casting doubt at times. It's a great resource! And I trust her judgment implicitly. I keep a collection to use as gifts. It is always well received.

I loved this book. My children ( 10 and 7 ) are big readers. This book gives great suggestions on quality books for children and families alike.

Wonderful Resource, 2008-09-29
I had been referred to this book by a friend and so glad I was!
I have two young children and there are so many childrens books out there it seemed almost impossible to know which ones to buy. This book is a great guide on getting the most enjoyment and reading pleasure for your children. I love this Authors' philosphy on reading together as a family, it is inspiring especially in this time of abundant technology.
Hope you buy it and tell your friends! I sent a copy to my good friend who just adopted two adorable children. It would be a great baby shower gift.
