Non-stop action and romantic tension, 2008-07-24 An innocent phone call to her former life has unwanted consequences for Ani. Inducted into the Witness Security program after watching the Russian mafia murder her parents and then turn the gun on Ani and her sister before setting the family home on fire, she is relocated to a small Arizona town. Alone in the world, her only solace become the calls from her handler, Marshall Daniel Parker, who immediately jumps to action when he discovers that his witness is in jeopardy. Both have been attracted to each other since she was first put into protective custody, but when they are forced into close quarters on the road, their attraction heats up, as the Russian Mafia seem to be one step ahead of them on their way to the trial.
This was my first novel by McCray, and it is fueled with plenty of romantic tension and edge of your seat action. The forbidden love between witness and handler makes the romance even more compelling, as well as the betrayals Ani discovers along the way. I really enjoyed the story and plan to seek out more titles by this author.

adventurous, 2008-07-10 Cheyene McCray is my new favorite author. Good adventure, with hot and sexy mixed in. Not as hot as her "Magic" series, but a definite good read.

Third Try, 2008-07-05 Unless Ms McCary is writing bedroom scenes ( which do have some measure of descriptive heat to them ), she just cannot write an expository sentence that is not on the level of "the cat sat on the mat". Everything is horribly written, in the short and clipped sentences of a nine year old. Sort of like "He looked at the woman. He was a bad man. He was in the Russian Mafia. He killed people. What was she gong to do?. The car exploded. She fell down."... And this just goes on and on and on for the whole book only being interrupted by those passages describing the heroine and hero "doing it".
I read this book in my new quest to understand women's fiction. I really wish I hadn't bothered.

"Awesome", 2008-06-18
Ani King went home to visit her mother and sister.
Her father was away for a couple of days, but he
had given Ani the password to use his computer
to check her e-mail. Ani logged on and she noticed
one e-mail with incriminating evidence against her
father and the Russian Mafia. The following evening,
Ani went to her parents' house to confront her father
about the e-mail and the Mafia. She went directly to
her father's den. When she got there, three men were
talking to her father. Ani's father was seated behind
his desk. They didn't seem to notice her. Dmitry a
member of the Russian Mafia, drew a gun and shot Ani's
father right in the forehead. Ani standing outside the
doorway. They didn't seem to notice her. Dmitry casually
looked over his shoulders and saw Ani standing outside
the doorway. Then, he shot her too and she screamed
from the pain.
Ani's mother and sister heard the screams and ran
in the hall. Dmitry shot her mother and sister. He
ordered the other two men to torch the house. One
came back with a can of gasoline tore a drape
from the curtain rod and threw it over Ani's mother.
Flames and smoke engulfed the entire downstairs. Ani
dragged her sister to a window and both were able
to flee the burning house.
Ani spent two years in The Witness Security Program.
She is getting ready to testify. Ani made a phone
call to her old life and the Russian Mafia was able
to locate her through the phone company. Now, she
is on the run again. Daniel Parker is the Deputy
Marshal assigned to Ani since she was in the WITSEC
program. Their relationship was not all business.
Moving Target is fast moving and exciting. Many Deputy
Marshals were trying to get Ani back to New York to
testify. The Mafia has been on their trail since they
left Arizona. They've been shot at, chased, and some
Deputy Marshals have been blown up to save Ani so she
can testify for United States Attorney.
Cheyenne McCray provided us with an insider's look
into The Witness Security Program. I liked the hot
romance between Ani and Daniel. Even though it was
forbidden, he crossed the line. For Ani and Daniel,
the chemistry was there for both of them from the
start when she went into Witness program. Overall,
the story line was action pack from the first chapter
to the end.
I highly recommend!
