Product Description "Once again Hurwitz exhibits her talent for creating characters who talk, act, and think just like real kids. Realistic dialogue . . . and commonplace situations that sparkle with humor combine to make this a fine choice."--School Library Journal.

Lucas's Revision, 2007-02-13 "Ha Ha Ha. That jokester is so funny. I already know I am going to have a fun time in his class. He mocks and tells jokes like they do at the circus. He represents class clowns everywhere. His name is Lucas Cott. We are in the third grade." These are the
words that could have been spoken by one of Lucas' classmates.
In the book Class Clown, by Johanna Horwitz, Lucas is always fooling around. One of his funny "tricks" is blowing his pencil up the desk, with his mouth, than letting it roll down and the same thing again and again. After a couple of weeks in school his teacher, Mrs. Hockaday, will not tolerate it any more. He needs to change or he might be in detention or suspension of school, which he does not want to be in. She tries to get him to do homework and study. She knew he was a smart kid so she kept trying to get him on the right path. Then Mrs. Hockaday announces that her class was going to put on play. The teacher asks the kids to brainstorm ideas on what the play should be based on. Every student was brainstorming ideas even Lucas.
"Let's do a "Cinderella" play," Cricket says. "NO!" said practically every boy. Then one boy said "How `bout a monster truck play." Lucas had an idea. And oh was it great! The play was practiced then when it was time something bad happened. Read Class Clown and figure out what the play is, who is the star, and if Lucas can change.

Clown Review, 2006-09-14 Johanna Hurwitz's book, The Class Clown, is about Lucas Cott's ups and downs in the school year. He is probably one of the smartest students in the third grade although he hides that fact by always getting in trouble. But when he ties on a bet with Cricket Kaufman (who plans on being a lawyer), Cricket takes Lucas as her practice client and keeps Lucas out of trouble and then things get interesting.
This book has a great story line and is very well witten. It was a lot of fun to read. Johanna Hurwitz pulls you into the story at the very beginning of the book and then keeps pulling all the way. It's a good third-fourth grade book. All in all, it's a good book.

Great School Story, 2006-08-20 Whether you are a teacher, a parent, or a student this is a great and entertaining story of a student named Lucas Cott who is the typical "class clown." However, through the story and the many events, Lucas finds that he enjoys NOT being the class clown more than he does the negative attention. It's a great story of how someone can change thier perspective and then change their behavior! Great story.

Class Clown is a great book!, 2006-06-21 The Class Clown book was funny when Lucas tasted the marking pens. The other funny part was when his baby brothers shouted, "No! No! No!" when they were going to get their haircut. You better read this book because it is hilarious!
