5 out of 5 starsKnowing God 101, 2008-05-09
This is an excellent introductory survey that will answer many of the questions you may have about "God" and his purposes. Presented in twelve easy-to-read chapters with questions at the end of each, the information will provoke a good discussion for small groups. You may want to allow more than twelve sessions to cover the book. This is one of several introductory survey books in the Christianity 101 series. I am well pleased to recommend this book and others in the series.

5 out of 5 starsCovering the Basics, 2006-06-22
As a person who has gone to church since they were born, I never questioned why - until I was older. I began to search for answers only recently and found that this text offers simple to understand information that lays a good groundwork for "armchair" theologians. Moreover, which may be only important to me, this text doesn't fall into the preachy trap that many books tend to. It merely provides information without being demanding of the reader or attempting to convert the reader, which typically results in preaching to the choir.

The text covers areas such as the trinity, who is God, Jesus as the God-man, the Holy Spirit, angels and demons, creation, man as the image of god, sin, salavation, and the next life in 12 chapters. Understand that this text only provides an outline of information and provides suggested readings in the topic area as well as cited Bible references (throughout the chapter as well as locations within the Bible to find additional information).

This is a text that would be really beneficial for a Bible class/study group or someone who is trying to figure out where do I begin? That's me. I used this text as a where to go guide for future research. So if you have questions that fall into these catagories and you wonder where do I begin this text is a must have.

4 out of 5 starsFun, simple primer, 2006-02-17
This is no heavyweight text, but then it is for beginners, not heavyweight Christians. It covers the basics of Christianity in a biblically reliable, easy-reading style. It is informative and, I think, fun for the curious.
