I had a hard time getting into this book. The flash backs of the two WWII men was way too much, I ending up skipping through most of it because I really didn't care about it! I wanted to read about Tom and Kelly but everything else took the most spotlight. Even the action development with the terrorist got pushed to the side because of the old men's relationship and history. The action was in the last few pages of the book. If there had been more focus on the hero/heroine relationship and the terrorist plot I would have given this a 5 star because it was well written.

 Exciting, passionate! Loved it!, 2008-05-31
This is my favorite book from this author to date! I can't begin to express how much this book has kept me enthralled for weeks! There are basically 3 different storylines here and the author has ingeniously weaved them together to make it into one passionate and exciting plot. I laughed, i cried, i got frustrated, i got angry, and i felt for each character as they went through their own specific pain and anguish. Lots of emotions and passion in this one! Suzanne Brockmann is truly a gifted writer!

I read this book in record time. It is a beautifully written and touching story. Tommy is...WOW! I am looking forward to reading more about the other members of the Troubleshooters.

Beautiful and touching story!!, 2007-10-17
I had never read a Suzanne Brockmann book before and when I decided to read The Unsung Hero, I had no idea how powerful and emotional it would be! I won't write about the book because there are plenty of reviews like that, I simply LOVED this book! It made me cry, laugh and angry all at the same time. But in the end, it taught me to tell those important in your lives that you love them! Don't let time slip you by without sharing your feelings!! This was a GREAT story! I can't wait to read more books by Ms. Brockmann!!

I enjoyed this one and didn't realize it was "book 1" of a series. There are two romances building in this story. One between Mallory and David and the other between the "main characters" of Tom (SEAL) and Kelly (pediatrician). Also, there was a retelling of a romance gone bad from 1944 (WWII). There were a few places when the book kinda dragged for me, sometimes the shifting between stories was annoying.
It was sad that two old men wasted their lives over a romance from 1944. And all the unnecessary secrets about their "war days" was frustrating for me--I'm talking WWII personal secrets not military secrets. How can you have a "close relationship" and not talk about your lives?
