5 out of 5 starsYummy, Yum, Yum...watch out for this one., 2008-12-29
This scrumptious little cookbook sat patiently on my shelf for the past 6 months or so (could it be even longer?), but it has finally had its turn in my kitchen and it was worth the wait. I fell in love with this cookbook for its whimsical style (title, colors, font, etc), and even bought one as a gift before trying any recipes. But try it I have and having shown its potential, this is a book I will be dipping into whenever my churros sweet tooth hits (which is often).

A little holiday break in my hectic schedule allowed me to try three recipes this week: churros and thick hot chocolate, double crumb apple pie, and sticky pear gingerbread. While the cooking times seemed off on the apple pie (mine was done a bit earlier) and the gingerbread (mine wasn't quite all the way done even past the time listed), all the flavors were dynamite and I am apt to assume the inadequate cooking times had more to do with my inaccurate timing, than the recipes (I'm not known for being overly conscious of timing anyway). I had special fun with the churros and chocolate and we served them up for xmas eve dessert to the family-- a very large platter of them all gone and everyone licking their cinnamon sugar coated lips! There are many more recipes already tagged (grown-up smores anyone?) and I will probably be buying more copies for fellow sweet loving bakers soon.

5 out of 5 starsBuy this book now!, 2008-12-24
Oh my goodness me, where do I start?
If you can get past the gorgeous photo and title on the front page, you will continue to be amazed!
Every recipe I've tried from this book has turned out beautifully, my only problem is, there are simply not enough hours in the day or parties to attend for me to try every recipe!
Amazing photographs, cute stories behind each recipe, beautiful page layouts...it's simply THE prettiest baking book in my collection.
Many of the recipes are a little fiddly and contain lots of ingredients but don't let that put you off, the results will all be worth it.

Good service. Book has many yummie recipes. I love chocolate and anything gooey. Haven't tried them yet but pictures are great and instructions are clear.

5 out of 5 starsGreat for those who like to impress!, 2008-09-17
This book is AMAZING. I am not a "new" cook, but being only 22 and married for less than a year, i still have alot to learn. But this book gives such wonderful instructions that anyone who has done basic baking can follow. Plus i LOVE the tips that are scattered throughout the book- particularly about the perfect pie dough. My specialty has been apple pie for a few years. I made Jill O'Connor's apple pie and my husband raved for 2 weeks about it! He is NOT a sweets person, and can't have a lot of sugar due to a medical condition but he always asks for her sugar crusted brownies with Buttercream frosting.

In short, this is not a beginners book but is wonderful for those who want to step up their baking skills to the next level in a simple easy way. It has interesting recipes that will have people asking due to their creativity. I do not exaggerate when i say that it is the BEST baking book i have ever gotten!

5 out of 5 starsGreat book, a must for anyone who enjoys baking, 2008-06-04
I have made 3 recipes out of this book so far and I've only had it for a week! Each one has been great! I do agree with people that the font is very hard to read, so get out your good glasses and go for it. Lets face it can you go wrong with chocolate soup with cinnamon toast pound cake croutons??? Oh the pound cake is made with cream cheese....good! What about chocolate mascarpone cheesecake pots with shortbread spoons. Nothing like eating it all and the cheesecake pops. I took some to work and could have got 3 orders for them. There are several more I can't wait to try!
