Product Description Existing only to destroy humankind, a demonic force, disguised as a beautiful woman, ravages the lives of several people, including former street gang member Jerry Washington and journalist Peter James. Reprint. AB. K. PW.
Amazon.com Review Because Christopher Pike is more commonly known for his young adult fiction, horror readers may not be familiar with this superb adult novel about an inhuman being that is menacing like a cobra to the souls as well as bodies of humans, and yet is also intensely curious. A quirky and resourceful handful of characters, including a 5000-year-old Hindu holy man, stumble over the various victims of the Cold One, and then gradually get to know each other, leading them all toward an unpredictable (if somewhat overcrowded) confrontation at a house on the beach in California. I agree with the Washington Post's assessment: "A polished, mature work with a grounding in Eastern philosophy. The characters are genuine, the action unexpected, violent, and wrenching. The Cold One is that rarest of horror novels, one that is visceral and intellectually stimulating at the same time."

Reader be warned, 2008-07-15 This book was good, although confusing at time because there were SO many characters involved. It has a really interesting set of twists that make it a great read.
A note to potential readers. Be forewarned. There was supposed to be a sequel to this book. Since 13 years have now passed, I am starting to doubt it.

WE WANT A SEQUAL!!!!, 2008-02-27 This book was really freaking awsome. One of the best I have ever read. It would make a wonderful movie the only thing is we need a sequel!!! Even if it doesn't get made into a movie a sequel would be very very very nice.

great book, 2007-03-09 Like everyone else I loved it and am simply waiting for a sequel to come out which was promised at the end. No one lures you in like Pike does.

Great Book-Where is the Sequel?, 2005-10-10 I am a tremendous fan of Christopher Pike. However, I must say that it is unfair to begin a story, get the reader very interested and then not finish the story. It has been 10 years since this was published. Where is the sequel that was promised at the end of this book? I love a good story and I would love to know how this story ends...it would be dissapointing if it never does. I must admit that this book is still well worth reading even without the resolution that the sequel would provide.

Raunchy, Riveting, and Explosive......, 2005-04-28 The Cold one is just like a horror movie, you feel like your right there. This book relentlessly pulls the reader into the story. You'll never be bored as the story unpredictably shifts between multiple characters. And when the whole story comes full circle you'll think you've got it all figured out, just to be proven wrong.
