Loved this book., 2006-07-31 I was somewhat surprized that I did; I don't like mystery/ghost stories, and I really thought we had nowhere left to go with the Tyber/Zanita story. Was I wrong.
Not only was the story's mystery NOT obvious, the author did a surprize take on the old Thin Man films I love so much. I do mean surprize; I really thought we were going to get some kind of Scooby Doo reference, given the usual level of reading material these days. What a wonderful touch to see Asta traipse through the picture!
This book was written very much in the kind of light hearted way the Thin Man movies were produced in; and I loved every moment of it. Tyber and Zanita are both hilarious, as are the cats. And Tyber puts quite enough heat into the mix, despite what another reviewer has said; add to that the genuine affection he has for Zanita, the realistic delight he just seems to take in her as a person, and you have a hero to die for.
Dorchester must be crazy; this author could be making them tons of money, yet all they can do is quibble over what amounts to nothing to them--although it is hard-earned and deserved pay for one author. Add to that the myriad new authors who think mighty hard--if they even consider at all--about signing with Dorchester now thanks to their treatment of Joy, and the words 'penny wise and dollar dumb' leap right out at you.
I hope another, more worthy publisher signs this lady; having only recently discovered her, I intend to buy all her books, and look forward to the time when she can once again write free of corporate leeches.
Hers are among the very few humorous romance books on my keeper shelf, along with Laura Kinsale and Julia Quinn. But she is definitely in a class by herself.

Fun from the beginning, 2005-11-18 If you look at this book on its own merit, it is great. I just put out of my head that its supposed to be her usual writing style and just enjoyed it. I think the humor was wonderful, I laughed more than I have in a long time. Dara more than made up for the fact that there were fewer steamy scenes with character depth and good writing. I would enjoy more of this type, though I love her other books, this is a good change of pace for those days when I want romace without tons of the steamy sex scenes. I read many different genre's of books so I have a wide view of any book I read. Some people groan at what I like to read (Tolkien, George R.R. Martin, Terry Brooks and Anne Mcaffery). I love detail and characters who have their backgrounds filled in. I have a very large library and a portion of that is romance novels because I also love to read about what I don't have. So, if you're looking for lots of steamy sex scenes this isn't for you (though there are a few), if your looking for a romance thats fun and filled with someone trying to come to grips with a man who just doesn't fit into a stereotype then definitly buy it. If there were more phyicists like him (especially who have his teaching style LOL), I'd be running for the classes. Read it for fun and laughs, you'll love it.

Don't bother, 2004-07-07 This story was no where near as good as the first story High Energy. The story had absolutely no energy and it seemed as though she had to force herslef to make the book. And the romance between Mills and Gregor never really gets a resolution. Hopefuly she'll make a book for them.

I loved it as much as the first, 2003-11-12 High Intensity is Dara Joy's follow up to High Energy. I loved the first book and I love this one too. The book is about the offbeat, comical and extremely HOT relationship between Tyber an genius physisist and Zanita a kooky small town reporter. There is a lot of sex (yes, some of us like that in our romance) mixed in with comedy and action. It reminds me of the movie Bringing up Baby with Katherine Hepburn and Carey Grant but with a contemporary twist. If Dara Joy desides to continue this series, I would buy every one!!!
