After 'Hit Man'
The New York Times bestseller Confessions of an Economic Hit Man documents John Perkins’ extraordinary career as a globe-trotting economic hit man. Perkins’ insider’s view leads him to crisis of conscience--to the realization that he must devote himself to work which will foster a world-wide awareness of the sanctity of indigenous peoples, their cultures, and their environments. Perkins’ books demonstrate how the age-old shamanic techniques of some of the world’s most primitive peoples have sparked a revolution in modern concepts about healing, the subconscious, and the powers each of us has to alter individual and communal reality.
This groundbreaking book is John Perkins’s firsthand account of his experiences with the shamanic technique of psychonavigation--a method of traveling outside the body by means of visions and dream wanderings--and his encounters with the Shuar of the Amazon, the Quechua of the Andes, and the Bugis of Indonesia. Shuar shamans psychonavigate for the purposes of hunting and healing, while the Bugis, among the most renowned sailors of the world, use these techniques to navigate without the aid of charts and compasses. Perkins explains how these techniques work and how the people of these indigenous cultures psychonavigate to both distant physical destinations and sources of inner wisdom.
Throughout history, psychonavigation has been practiced by highly creative minds such as Beethoven, Jung, and Einstein. Perkins’s riveting narrative takes us on a journey of personal discovery as he learns the great value of these techniques and their relevance not only to individual well-being, but to the health of the environment and of the world at large. He reveals how by attuning to the positive forces in nature and communicating with our inner guides we all can become psychonavigators, finding our way to wise decisions and developing innovative approaches to the challenges we face as individuals and a world community.

One of the best on the topic, 2008-07-16 I wasn't sure exactly what I was getting when I ordered this book, but as a lover of all things Latin American, I decided this book might bridge the gap between my interest in Latin America and in metaphysics. It turned out to be a spectacular read, a memoir of someone experiencing astral projection and dreamwork to receive warnings of the future of our planet if it continues on as it is, abused and raped of its resources. Since its publication I can see many of the warnings beginning to manifest. This books is on my shelf of "keepers."

Truth is universal..., 2008-07-10 Truth is absolute. Whether this truth is told from the perspective of a Tibetan Lama, Einstein, Tesla, a Sufi mystic or the Jaguar Shaman of Perkin's story it all leads to the same place. Applying the lessons of this book will get you there. This concise text cuts to the heart of the matter. Perkin's in his glimpses of enlightenment realizes that there is no time to waste; we must act as urgently: as if our hair were on fire. There is no past, no present; only here and now.
Required reading for any responsible and sophisticated citizen is Perkin's Economic Hit-man and the follow up Secret History of America.

Psychonavigation, 2007-10-25 I enjoyed hearing stories about psychonavigation which sounds a lot like astral traveling, to get information needed for real life situations.
I found his relaxation technique preparing for psychonavigation very relaxing and helpful. As part of the process, he asks you to imagine pleasant and relaxing energies/feelings running through the body.

Huge Disappointment, 2007-08-12 I have read hundreds of books and many were not worth the time or money, but this book is so bad that I had to write this review to warn others. Don't get me wrong, if you enjoy reading the autobiography of people you don't know, this may be the book for you. If, on the other hand, you're like me and searching for books that will help you along the spiritual path, save your money. I was drawn to this book on Amazon based on several "5 star" reviews claiming the book was of great benefit. Most of the book chronicles the author's life as a Peace Corps volunteer. The only practical part of the book is a short chapter that is supposed to teach the technique of "psychonavigation". The gist of the chapter is "Learn how to meditate". If you already practice meditation, this book is of no help to you. If you want to learn how to meditate, this book is not for you either. There are far better books to check out if you want to start a practice of meditation. BUYER, DEFINITELY BEWARE.

It's All About The Journey ~ Lessons Along The Way, 2006-05-18 'Psychonavigation' by John Perkins is a thin, but extremely potent book that you will read over and over again. Only 144 pages in length, it's a very quick read, just an hour or two and you're done. However don't confuse brevity in length with lack of depth and content. There is much insight and wisdom within.
Journey with John in his cross cultural travels as he shares tales about the old ways of knowing and how they can be applied in any kind of modern setting, urban or otherwise. His stories and experiences are the real jewel of this book and will leave the reader with an almost transcendental feeling of joy and wonderment about the marvelous and mystical world in which we live!
My Highest Recommendation!!
