 Tells It Like It Is!, 2008-12-24
Oliver North is a good storyteller of war stories. Because the Iraq War is the current war in the news, this is very timely. As a history buff, I've read war stories from all of the major conflicts. One in particular I've really enjoyed is Walking Through Fire: An Iwo Jima Survivor's Remembrance which is a true war story told by someone who was there who doesn't consider himself a hero and is definitely not a celeb.Walking Through Fire, An Iwo Jima Survivor's Remembrance

 reminded me of Guadalcanal Diary, 2008-10-18
Colonel North is a great story teller. The way he weaves together the stories of the Marines, Soldiers and Airmen in Operation Iraqi Freedom makes for riveting reading. North does an outstanding job providing a cohesive picture of the military operation by weaving together individual stories---action-packed stories---of the men and women that served in this conflict. The Colonel does an excellent job of creating narrative tension. I found myself reading well into the night.

War Stories Operation Iraqi Freedom, 2008-01-27
I normally do not read "war" books. When I saw this book I had to get it -- after a very good Marine friend told me a little about his tours in this war. I wanted to learn more since he never thought he did anything out of the ordinay - he was only doing his job as a Marine.
I like how this book describes the men and women serving our country and the sacrifices they volunteer to make. I am very PROUD of our military.
I would definitely recommend this book.

Excellent stories by a Marine about our troops in combat, 2006-06-27
This book is a series of snapshots in time covering the exploits of Marines and Soldiers in combat. Since it is written by a Marine, the stories are told from their perspective as opposed to being filtered by the media.
It is a positive portrayal of the events in Iraq. Although the author does insert some political statements into his narrative, his views are not all that different from many of the troops he writes about.
If you support the troops, or know one, and you want to understand what their life is like...you will love this book. If you do not support the troops and/or the only one you have ever met was an actor playing one on a Hollywood screen set...you will hate this book.

Great, 2005-05-02
This is a great book. It gets you right in with the action and keeps you reading. What is amazing is that it is real reality and not fiction. Lots of little details are thrown in at the appropriate times, for information and education. Really easy to read and also easy to read in small sections at a time.
