4 out of 5 starsNice Options Trading Read, 2008-07-20
The authors present their option trading system for trading Volatility (non-directional trading, which is what most option trading professionals do). It is a complete system (one of many in the universe). It is simple, which is where its inherent beauty is, and inexpensive to implement - no expensive software, data plan, or expensive seminars etc. One has to have a lot of trading experience to condense the massive field of options into a simple plan and they do. Those that are new to options will benefit by reading the book cover to cover, and those that know options will benefit by seeing someone elses option volatility trading system. Much careful thought went into this publication. The authors simplify statistics, option pricing models, volatility forecasting, Greeks, all of it. Their favorite strategy is buying and selling straddles in times of low and high volatility respectively. Yes, one can make a living perfecting this one strategy alone and the essence of this tome is that one ought to consider doing just this because if you do you will save a lot of time and money. One slight quibble keeping the review away from 5 stars is the underemphasizing of the risk of trading naked straddles. Perhaps an entire chapter could have been devoted to the trials and tibulations of unlimited risk strategies (not just a few paragraphs). For example, a trader who says I never (rarely) trade unlimited risk strategies also wouldn't bet against the possiblity of "Green Swans." And would be able to defend the statistical high ground.
