A Good Place to Start, 2008-07-21 I was not born with an organizing gene. Organizing space has not been one of my strengths in the past. In fact, it has been a struggle for me and a frustration to others around me. "The Lean Office Pocket Guide XL" is just large (and small) enough to lay out the basic principles without overwhelming details. It appears to provide enough of the terminology, processes, and forms for developing a Lean Office, so that someone like me can get started.
I'm the pastor of a local church. We will use the Guide to start living into a Lean process to become more environmentally good stewards, to save costs, and to be more responsive to seeking new disciples as well as serving the needs of present members.
There are lots of books on Lean organizations, 5S, and Six Sigma; however, I haven't found any that apply directly to a church setting. The Lean Office Pocket Guide XL can be easily adapted to church and other non-profit offices. I believe we are starting a journey as a staff that will ripple into how we do ministry in the congregation and beyond.

Lean for the office, 2008-02-15 Very handy reference book - nice production but some of the graphics could have been more professional looking. But the big thing is that I got several good learning points from the book and it is well worth the money.

Best information for Lean Office for the price!, 2007-10-31 I have found The Lean Office Pocket Guide XL to be an excellent reference when trying to involve adminstrative workers in the Lean or Six Sigma movement. The topics are thoroughly explained for anyone to undersand. The steps that accompany each tool or subject are a great starting point. I found this book to be the best book in the market and would recommend it highly. I like this larger version also. Five stars!

Good overview, nothing special, 2007-10-27 I am always looking for pocket guides to give to clients. This won't be one of those. I can't fault the basic content, but it just leaves me looking for something more. There are quite a few pages at the end with forms.

SUPERB COLLECTION OF LEAN TOOLS , 2007-06-15 Simply stated, this book has every Lean tool explained in relation to transactional processes. It gave us insight into how takt time, pitch, leveling, flow, etc. can be applied in our administrative areas. It's a fantastic book for the price!
