Product Description This book gives numerous, vivid, heartwarming examples of "small miracles" that take place when a therapy dog visits people in a variety of venues: nursing homes, psychiatric institutions, special facilities for mentally and physically challenged young adults, etc. The book is at times deeply moving as well as frequently humorous. Included are informative chapters on how your dog can be trained and prepared to be a therapy dog, and practical applications of how to be more effective in Animal Assisted Therapy. Informative as well as a good "pleasure reading" book, it is written in plain language, just like a friend telling the reader stories about what happened the other day at work.

Good for beginning book, 2007-06-09 This is a sweet book on the life of a therapy dog from the dog's point of view. Good introduction but not much help in learning how to train one.

Working as a therapy dog, 2007-02-27 The book itself is good , I just did not realize it was a kids book when I ordered it .

Working as a Therapy Dog, 2006-11-10 Enjoyed the book, makes you realize how patients enjoy being with a therapy dog when they cannot be with their own pets. Cute the way it was written from the dogs point of view.

Great AAT read ..., 2006-04-04 Having done animal assisted therapy work for six years now, I have to say this is an excellent and complete work on the subject. The author very subtlely gets across some key points in the therapy process. The importance of early training and socialization is emphasized. And the examples of how therapy dogs relate to the patients/clients are wonderful!!

Unprofessional and Unhelpful, 2005-11-24 From the title of this book, I was expecting there to be more information or tips for people who have dogs working as a therapy dog. As my dog has already been through therapy dog training and certification, the section on training/certifying your dog was not helpful to me, and anyway I could have found more information on this topic online, such as at [...] or other dog training websites.
The writing did not seem to have a professional feel to it, it was very short and not very interesting. The anecdotes were not interesting enough to justify the price of this book. I wish I had never bought it, was going to return it but it's even not worth the time or shipping cost.
