Product Description Enemies Foreign And Domestic is a domestic terrorism thriller set in the near future. The novel begins on opening day of the NFL season, when bullets begin to rain down upon the upper deck of a packed football stadium. A panic stampede ensues, leading to mass casualties. The alleged sniper is found holding a smoking assault rifle, and is killed by a police marksman. One week later, congress bans the private possession of all semi-automatic assault rifles. Gun owners are given one week to turn in their semi-automatic rifles, or face a five year mandatory sentence. The plot revolves around the true identity of the actual sniper. The alleged sniper killed at the scene may be a patsy, and many Americans refuse to turn in their banned weapons, leading to a civil crisis in the nation.

Enemies Foreign and Domestic, 2008-11-07 Matthew Bracken's novel "Enemies Foreign and Domestic" is a well written, modern day thriller with the harrowing implications of what can happen when a government goes after a person's right to bear arms. Bracken did his research well, noting how many don't know the difference between a .22 and a .223 caliber round, and showing how the media can portray the most awful of incidents into a spin frenzy of hate that allows sympathy to shelter the minds of the sheep, allowing the Janet Reno types to unleash the ATF in full force.
The intensity of this fictional story is that you can actually see it really happening. Those that are fully aware of the incidents of Waco and Ruby Ridge, as well as the threat to the constitution in general will be thrilled to see how the facts are laid out as the base for this story and the characters involved.
Beyond the message, the story is superb, with a multitude of characters that range from everyday Joes to Federal big wigs. Although at times the descriptions seem a bit trite, the overall plot and action packed scenes flow very seamlessly from one chapter to the next, while also educating the reader on issues that they may have otherwise never heard on their local network television. Bracken's novel is one of adventure, action, intrigue and self discovery as it makes a reader think about their role as a citizen and the abusive powers of government over people. The novel is a period piece of a sort, taking place shortly after September 11th, 2001.
Highly Recommended.

Excellent book!, 2008-06-26 This is an wonderful book, it is a serious read, but it is quite worth it. The real cost of freedom, what does it mean to you, Matthew Bracken knows and he does an excellent job in unfolding it in story form, a pleasure to read. I was not one bit disappointed with a single word written within these pages, it is a shame that this book is virtually non existant in Canada! Thank goodness for Amazon on that one! Looking forward to reading his next book Recognista!

GOOD, NOT GREAT., 2008-06-11 THIS BOOK SHOULD PROBABLY BE RATED AT 3.5 STARS, RATHER THAN THE 4 STARS SHOWING.
IT'S A GOOD BOOK BUT NOT GREAT ONE. ALSO, IT'S NOT A PAGE BURNER AND AT TIME, IT DRONES ON.
"PATRIOTS" WAS A MUCH BETTER READ.
STILL, RECOMMENDED.

A real page turner from cover to cover!, 2008-06-09 Great book! Full of useful information from cover to cover;full of mystery, suspense, and reality. Not a 'happy' book,in fact, in spots it is brutal but the storyline is certainly believable. I can't wait to read the sequal "Domestic Enemies:The Reconquista". One caution though; the book "broke" in the middle. But, Amazon did replace the book without a hassle.

Agood premise , but no strong payoff, 2008-04-05 I really looked forward to this book. I enjoyed the plot premise, but felt the book was overly long and meandering at times.
