Book Description This book is an in-depth analysis of tithing from the perspective of the New Covenant. It evaluates the scriptural references to tithing in their context: before the Law, during the Law, and after the Law. It exposes the faulty theology of tithing and explains why it hinders the body of Christ from entering the fullness of God’s provision and purpose. It also describes God’s plan for Spirit-led giving today. This book goes far beyond the discussion of tithing and financial giving. Most importantly it lays the foundation for understanding the New Covenant paradigm of life in Christ as a son of God. For more about the perspective this book was written from, please read the Preface, which is presented under Excerpt. Makes sense, but then why does the Bible making "tithing" so important?, 2008-01-08 I must say, this book definitely points out the fallacies of current preaching and teaching on tithes today. I don't disagree with any of this books' facts, nor about its teaching about the "finished" work of Christ.
However, one thing that still bothers me is that God obviously thought the subject of the "tithe" was so important that he spent a great deal of time in the Bible, including in the New Testament, talking about it. Why did he do that? Just so we can now say "It's not important today, so we can now forget about it?"
I don't think so; I think this author is correct in that God certainly did not intend tithing to be a legalistic mandate for Christians according to a hodge-podge of OT and NT scriptures that preachers like to use; on the other hand, in throwing out all the misconceptions and lies of the tithe, this author has thrown out the baby with the bath water -- the baby is God's original purposes for tithing, the "love, mercy, and judgment" that Jesus spoke about, and the people for which the tithe was and is still intended today.
I read another book called "Spirit of the Tithe" by Whitehead which points out the same exact lies and fallacies that this author points out (and several others that this author totally missed), but what I liked about the "Spirit of the Tithe" book is that it recognizes that God created the concept of the tithe for a reason, just like he did all the other laws, and that where there was a "legalistic" way of following those laws in the Old Testament (which the NT church often tries to get us to follow, incorrectly), that there is now, through Christ, a "spiritual" way of following those laws today. God's original purposes of the tithe, shown through Abraham's, Jacob's, and Moses' (the law) tithes all give us important lessons about how we should guide our giving today, where we should give it, and who should benefit from our giving.
Overall, this is an excellent book; I just think it is unfortunate that it leaves out the fact that God still wants us to give today according to many purposes of the tithe, even though he is correct that we are no longer bound by the laws of the tithes themselves. Good read.

Christ, the TRUE fullfillment of all things Old Covenant, 2007-09-17 One of the finest books on this subject as a biblical study.
Years ago, I was a born-again rich young ruler.
I could proudly hold up my bible and say "all these things I've done"
One day, Jesus asked me to through that away and walk in a new law.
Romans 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Now I give as the spirit leads. I don't have to worry about financing a worker of iniquity, because I know the holy spirit would never give one a dime, even though we know that scripture tells us there will be *MANY*.
Let the Holy Spirit lead you in your giving, and then the workers of iniquity will only have rich young ruler Christians for their support :)

NOT REDEEMED BY CORRUPTIBLE THINGS......This Book Deserves *****10 STARS*****, 2007-08-03 It's so much more than "is tithing right"...rather it's "is what Jesus did for us at Calvary enough" Was it truly finished or not?
Redeemed means spirit, soul, body, financially and socially. It was a completed work.
I believed just as many of you do all my Christian life. I came to realize after working in ministries and with ministers what really goes on "behind the scenes". They are not bad people, just misinformed about New Covenant Realities and especially the Books of Hebrews and Galatians. They are blinded to this because they only see one way to get money into the church, establish their budgets, pay their salaries and build their vision. God has such a better plan.
After crying out to God for truth to be revealed concerning this type of manipulation and control and what He really thinks and what He really wants every Christian to walk in, I began a spiritual journey which took over 5 years of study and prayer. I realized I could no longer be a part of harming and manipulating God's children. Then I "found" this book and it confirmed EVERYTHING the Lord had shown me in His Word.
I realized the scriptures ministers were holding over their members' heads came from the law combined with II Cor 9 (you cannot mingle your seed - old and new - law and grace) that when they gave to the church, God would be sure their needs were met. Yet in meeting after meeting, they were coming up with "schemes" to bring more money in. They would never truly read those scriptures which said that God would make GRACE ABOUND to them so that they needed no aid or support.
This is what God truly wants -- His people walking in so much reality of what Jesus did for them that they would abound in so much of this grace that not one Christian would need any aid or support -- all to His glory and to show the world that our God truly does meet our every need according to His riches in glory.
Just truly, without any hold backs or emotions, ask yourself "Has God really, truly opened the windows of Heaven and poured out a blessing in which you cannot contain all of it?" "Do you truly have more than enough to meet every need, every day and enough to bless others?" All these things were promised even if you tithed the first time, yet you honestly do not see it happening...WHY?
because we are living in New Covenant realities based on one thing only -- the precious sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ...His shed blood and His sacrifice ALONE is where the blessings in every area of life come from....Though He was rich, He became poor; that THROUGH HIS POVERTY, you are made rich!
We are not redeemed by corruptible things, such as silver and gold, but by the precious blood of Jesus Christ.(1Pe 1:18) Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation RECEIVED BY TRADITION FROM YOUR FATHERS;
(1Pe 1:19) But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Please search the scriptures with an honest heart....he that has ears to hear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.....come FREELY and receive!! HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT.
And if you still must have a scripture from the Old Testament, please read Isaiah 55:1 -- Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath NO MONEY; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk WITHOUT MONEY and WITHOUT PRICE.

A must read for the sincere lover of Jesus who wants to walk fully in Christ's purposes and spirit., 2007-07-05 This book put into words what my heart, mind, and spirit have been wrestling with, pondering, and rejoicing over... It is encouraging that there is a book that is written that clearly explains what the Holy Spirit and scripture revealed to me. Hallelujah! Are you ready to be "free indeed?"...

Tithing: low-realm obsolete & defunct, 2007-04-25 A very well put together book about the truth behind
the common misconception of the tithe. I highly recommend this book if a person feels guilt, free your spirit and welcome the full benefit of christianity.
Can one come up with a list of churches or ministers
who understand the New testament as well as the author of this book? Lets wait & see! I am one waiting for the change.
