Product Description
Where are the fiery prophets of today - the piercing Revivalists of old? Why do we have "gold dust", feathers, "holy laughter" and Charismatic chaos, instead of weeping and deep repentance? In this book, Revival preacher Andrew Strom tells of what he saw and why he left the modern Prophetic movement after eleven years' involvement. And how the announcement of his leaving shook the movement. What is real Revival? And how does it differ from what we are seeing? What are real prophets of God supposed to be like? And how do you discern true signs and wonders from the false? All these questions and more are answered in this provocative book. Andrew Strom is founder of "RevivalSchool-com" and editor of the Revival List. For many years he was known as a "publisher of the prophets" - until his shock announcement in 2004 that he was publicly quitting the movement. This is his story why. FROM THE REVIEWS: "This book left me in tears, weeping for a restoration of the true gospel and with such a yearning to see real revival in our nation..."

4 out of 5 starsIt's About Time... , 2008-09-08
I know people heavily involved in the Patricia King Prophetic Movement, and the sad thing is that people are so hungry for God that they accept all manner of silliness without the verifcation of the Bible... Fake gold dust and gem stones that drop... mysteriously... that only staff receive... odd sounds, etc... and yet people buy it hook, line and sinker! So sad... nowhere in the Bible are these phenomenon described... This book shows this movement to be the ridiculous sham that it is! It's about time! God forgive us for being willing to accept such obvious counterfeits for the true power of God!

4 out of 5 starsIt is the same as `True and False Revival' with 2 extra chapters, 2008-09-07
The book is the same as `True and False Revival ' with 2 extra chapters.
I think this needs to be made clear when offering it for sale.

5 out of 5 starsVery informative, 2008-07-18
I read this book in two days. I had not heard much of what was in the book before. I was shocked by some of the information about Todd Bentley. It caused me to search for more information about him on YouTube and what I saw there was even worse (very sick people being physically attacked by him!) Some of my dear friends have been caught up in this false ministry, so I intend to share this info with them.

2 out of 5 starsInteresting book on the Prophetic Movement, 2008-07-15
After Strom had attended a prophetic Conference in Kansas City, he describes what he seen going on there - was so disturbing, pagan, and ungodly that he left the Prophetic Movement. He believes that the movement is dominated by a spirit of divination and fortune-telling, that it is beyond reform. It is a movement that Majors on: Manifestations, portals, and weird visitations, and that it more closely resembles -what is seen in the new age movement then anything resembling Christianity. He was disturbed by the emphasis put on healings, anointings, and people putting there eyes on Men.

We are not in agreement with some things in the book, but he does bring up some important points. Strom gives a strong warning to those who have been 'touched' or involved themselves with manifestations, visitations, and experiences, that you need to renounce it, in Jesus Name, with your mouth, and have nothing more to do with it.

There is a good section on IHOP and the modern Prayer Movement and it's 'Bridal Paradigm' - 'Romancing Jesus' teachings that are promoted in Music and other formats, especially among Youths and young Christians, and how this distorts a Christian's true understanding of Christ and God's Holiness. People think just because old Mystics are quoted supporting it, it makes it correct. But, Strom clearly shows how these extra-biblical teachings can lead an unsuspecting listener to accept false teachings and can open a Christian up to unclean and deceitful spirits.

The chapter on why correcting false teachings is NOT a Matthew 18 matter, was especially helpful. One thing didn't like about the book was it's references to heresy hunters, yet Strom's own chapter on discernment is no different then what 'heresy hunter's' have been warning about for YEARS.

We bought this book in early June because someone we knew was involved with Todd Bentley's school and revival teachings and read some sections of the book to her, she says now she's not involve, but seldom is this truly possible so quickly, since the teachings, peer-pressure and fleshy appeal is so seductive.

1 out of 5 starsGood information, but the author isn't trustworthy, 2008-06-13
I bought "Why I Left the Prophetic Movement" because of questions I've had in regards to teachings, etc.,..in the charismatic Christian Community. I found MR. Strom's information to be very helpful, but sadly I found out Mr. Strom is doing & teaching what he's writing against in his book. I have put this book on my personal: "Don't Read" list for a newsletter I write for friends.
