Product Description

Ever wonder why you're the last single girl among all your married girlfriends? Do you have a gorgeous, talented, witty daughter, sister or best friend who just can't seem to find the perfect mate? Don't stress, you - and that fabulous woman you know - have something in common with 96 million other Americans: You're single!

Let's face it: if you're single, it's because you CHOOSE to be, not because you're DOOMED to be. The Single Girl's Manifesta is glorious vindication for those who are not held captive - literally or figuratively - by the tyranny of the "We."

After author Jerusha Stewart found herself wondering about her own single status, she interviewed hundreds of compatriots across the country about their choice to remain single. Jerusha leaves no stone unturned as she explores the pleasures of single living. You may be the last single girl in your crowd, but you've saved the best for last!

The Single Girl's Manifesta lets readers in on how to:

  • Value being single
  • Not be daunted by dating mishaps
  • Manage life's milestones when you're unmarried
  • Banish the fear of buying a home, dining out, or traipsing 'round the world solo
  • Embrace the inner truths that lead you to finally answer the question "Why am I single?"

This outlandish ode to singles is packed with engaging quizzes, revitalizing rituals, sizzling love letters and a killer recipe for Morning-After French Toast. It's for the woman who has it all, without having to tie the knot. So the next time you and your girlfriends are about to indulge in another "poor, single me" conversation, open this book instead and jumpstart the sensational solo life you deserve!

This book made me laugh. It was cute and quirky; embraces the single life and enjoy it.

5 out of 5 starsSingle-licious!, 2007-11-05
My personal mantra is to live lusciously, live "la dolce vita", so when I saw Jerusha's version "la dolce vita solo", I knew I had to read the book. It is a delicious read! The Singular Sensations, Steal this Life columns, and Pleasure Passes are ab-soul-utely fabulous. After reading "The Single Girl's Manifesta" you'll live the most bodacious life you ever dreamed. Hey even married women should read it and add spice to their lives! I ran into Jerusha at SF Ladies Who Launch Live and she is as sparkling as her book! Toodles, gotta run because tonight I'm bathing in champagne! (Pleasure Pass #2)

5 out of 5 starsIt's about time!, 2007-09-28
I thought it was fabulous. How liberating and wonderful to see a book that doesn't focus on how to "get through" being single but rather how to live a wondeful life while you're single, whether it's for a week or for a lifetime. The idea I loved most was the scrapbooking idea, putting together a vision of what your future would/could look like as a single women, putting to rest the fear of sitting all alone in a room full of cats and seeing one's self on adventures and trips and surrounded by family and friends and relationships and love. In the end, we go around once, right? What a waste to spend that time waiting, waiting, instead of creating, creating.

2 out of 5 starsNot enough Substance-JUST OKAY, 2007-07-23
I was very excited to recieve this book, and began reading it right away. About a chapter in I wasn't so excited to continue this and found it harder to pick it up. The author does give helpful advice that is fun to keep in mind when you are single and ideas for what to do with yourself. The part I personally did not care for is that half the book are stories from other singles, I found myself skimming through every story just to get to the main point paragraphs after each one. If you don't mind reading those than you will enjoy this book. But for me I want to get to the point, I want facts, and substance. I don't want to read about what Janet age 30 is doing with her single life!!

5 out of 5 starsThe best guide for single women everywhere, 2006-08-01
As a single, black female in my late 20s, I have continually focused on finding someone to have as my own. This book made me realize that person is me. I am SO incredibly happy being single the book made me realize I can have a fulfilling life into my 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond without being tied down to someone. The alternative to being single is not bliss (I've seen way to many messed up relationships to believe that's true). Being single is a blesing and not a curse.

I've read a lot of "you go girl" & "loving the solo life" kind of books, but this one offers practical advice and really struck a cord like others haven't.
