2 out of 5 starsA waste, 2007-12-27
I found this book to pretty much be a waste. Everything was very general. You pretty much need to get a state specific book to get what you want to know.

5 out of 5 starsKnow your enemy., 2007-02-14
My wife brought home this book for me because I am beginning to invest in rental properties, and I need to be aware of the tricks that tenants like to play (especially tenants that do self-help divorce and bankruptcy!). This book was invaluable for giving me the lowdown on what stunts people will pull--now I'm ready for the frivolous lawsuit, and I know how to write an iron-clad lease. Thanks Nolo! Oh, and I suppose if you were a renter trying to deal with an unlikeable landlord, this book would be a good tool to have in your arsenal. Unless he read the book too. :)

5 out of 5 starsTHis was a fantastic book............................, 2002-10-11
This is the best book to have if you are a renter.!!! Don't rent with out it. I recently went thru a illegal lock out, and kicked...in court. TOok mr. ole landlord to court. He took matters in his own hands. DId a self help eviction, and had the nerve to lock us out when we were out of town, and came back, we were locked out, and by the way, the rent was paid. He didnot like me, he said. I think it was a retaliation issue. of a prior problem. Any way, he even had the nerve to have a apartment sale, and sell our stuff!. Yep, I know, I couldnot believe it either.! Even bought some of my stuff back at local resale shops and 2nd hand stores, and resale book stores. Oh yes, I Did. I took them to court and it was a bitter sweet VICTORY. I could not have done it with out this book. It helped me cover all my basis. This is one of the best books, I have ever read. I have had great luck with all the other books I have bought of NOLOS. Try, like how to do your own divorce, divorce & money, I was able to do my own divorce, and keep the house, the truck, and get alimony, and do a child support garnishment, and draft out of X's paycheck. Hey, what can I say, he wouldnot take care of these precious angels, so I guess mom, me had to kick... ANy way, NOlo books I Can trust everytime. It is nice to know there are self help aides out there you can trust. Alos check out NOLOS bankruptcy books, 7, 11, & 13! Great reads, iron clad true to the end. NOLO 4 EVER.

1 out of 5 starsSorely lacking, 2002-10-11
This book was written to be a quick read and it shows. Its chapters for different topics are about 7 or 8 pages long, in double-spaced lines and a big font, meaning there's a lack of useful information. Other than some commonsense tips about picking a place ("make sure it's livable"), living with roommates ("make sure they're people you can live with"), dealing with a landlord ("make sure he's not a creep"), there just wasn't much to justify buying this book. Probably shouldn't have been called "The Complete Moron Tenants' Book."
