Uncommon Beauty: 7 qualities of a beautiful woman, 2007-11-29
I guess I'll start by saying that I now keep this little jewel right beside my Bible. Although I've only had it for six weeks, it's already worn on the edges and the corners are curled. The first time reading it, I had to stop often, lay it down, and let it just sink in. Good thing I had a box of Kleenex close by. Maybe it's just me and where I am in life, but everything spoke so profoundly to my heart. On the other hand, that's what I've come to expect from the Lord's hand on Cynthia over the past 25 years. I'm 47 years old and still hope that when I grow up I can be like her.
Well, back to the book... All I can say is that it's sparked an insatiable thirst in my heart once again to honor the Lord with all I am. I truly want to become a woman who is uncommonly beautiful. I want contentment more than any fleeting thing this world can offer... I want integrity more than an easy way out... I want to be free to give selflessly of my time, my passion, and the gifts the Lord has entrusted to me. I recently took a leap of faith in a decision I made, which was huge for me... because of a conviction the Lord brought through what I read. What blessings I received in return... not visibly, but through healing and freeing my heart!
Each time I flip through the pages to read again, it's like the Lord is lovingly holding up a mirror to show me what needs to be seen. Cynthia has written this book in such a way that it's like enticing a child with a taste of honey on their tounge. You end up wanting what's best more than anything else. It's for any woman, young or old, regardless of her beliefs or where she is in life. I've already started giving copies away.
