Book is not accurate
, 2008-04-25
The book has some interesting stuff in it. However, there are many things that are inaccurate. For example, their definition of ASP is not correct. Or, the book put the importance of integration with ETS, OASIS, ISO markets next to nil. I work for one of the vendors serving the ETRM market space and my impression is that the book is trying to spin definitions and needs so that they match what the sponsoring vendor (Allegro) offers. So no, if you are looking to objectively gather information about what an ETRM should do, this is not the book for you.

Get this overview book and advance your career
, 2006-08-12
For all developers and IT people involved in trading software, this book is a boon.
Too often you end up working on a small piece of a large system, which comprises many modules, and missing both the total picture and how your piece fits in.
From this book, you will first get the vocabulary which will help you at interviews. Then you will get the broad outlook which will help you offer suggestions and make improvements in your systems.
And I do not have to tell you how valuable this is for you. Add to this a trading book, like "Trading Energy Futures and Options", and watch your career soar. Good luck!
