Product Description
With a clear focus on how business objectives determine project value, this book explains how to use an "investment-based" perspective to integrate finance, risk management and strategic planning. You'll develop workflows that overcome constraints of time, cost and scheduling as you benefit from new tools that relate processes directly to business goals: the project balance sheet and the time-centric earned value system. In addition, a new goal decomposition methodology gives you the best chance of getting projects started - and getting them accomplished successfully.

4 out of 5 starsExcellent book for the business manager, 2003-12-17
This book is an excellent brief on the business application for project management and the value selection for a project as applied to the business perspective. This book is on my list of favorite recommendations to non-project managers and business application managers struggling to understand the value that project management offers an organization. It also provides incite on how project selection supports a business case, company goals and objectives.

1 out of 5 starsValue without value, 2002-03-16
The title proports to tell us how to approach project management from a value management perspective. The idea is right, the execution inadequate. The author uses a number of chapters to gloss the surface of ROI measures, etc.; but doesn't make their application clear or usable. I highlighted something in the introduction, then nothing for 60 pages. I quit reading the book after that. This is a topic area that I am very interested in, but I did not find the book useful.
