In Everyday Low GI Eating, the authors of the New York Times bestseller The New Glucose Revolution show readers how to choose low-GI carbohydrates—the ones that produce only small fluctuations in our blood glucose levels—so that they feel fuller longer and increase their energy levels, making weight loss achievable and sustainable. Jennie Brand-Miller and Kaye-Foster-Powell, along with Philippa Sandall, offer a simple overview of the GI and why it's such an effective dietary tool; a list of the top 100 low-GI foods divided into easy-to-follow sections such as fruit and veggies, breads and cereals, legumes, nuts, and indulgences; tips on low-GI cooking and shopping; and much more. Complete with a 7-day low-GI meal plan to start readers off on the right foot, Everyday Low GI Eating is a one-stop resource for all those looking for an easy way to make the switch to a low-GI lifestyle.

3 out of 5 starsGI reading, 2009-01-06
This book was informative, an easy read. It highlighted all the areas in grocery shopping and preparing low GI foods to help curb those cravings. I did find it interesting that this is geared towards pre-diabetics. I think everyone should take a look at this book and attempt to apply it. Working with lower GI foods does help to control cravings, portion size, and how often you eat. Not to mention, it helps take off weight. Only problem, not all of the foods are in the United States.
But learning how to read labels helps make the transition easy.

This book was very helpful. I'm transitioning to a vegetarian diet but have been diagnosed with PCOS-Polycystic Ovaraian Syndrome. Women who suffer from this condition are encouraged to eat a low-glycemic diet. This book has cool meal plans and a lengthy list of foods and where they rank on the glycemic scale.

5 out of 5 starsThis is not a diet but a way of life - highly recommend!!!!, 2008-06-24
I found following the glycemic program has enabled me to still enjoy the foods I love and to actually feel very healthy at the same time. It has affected my moods, my cravings, and relationship with food and my emotions. Thank you for this book - I believe the low glycemic program should be under consideration to replace the food pyramid!

This book helps the reader understand why whole grains and fiber help to lose wight. The recipes in the book are definitely worth trying. The idea is to eat less and be less hungry. My husband has lost 30 pounds thanks to the information in this book.
