Excellent, authoritative book., 2007-11-21 This book has very serious credentials - see The Commonweath Fund's site. I bought it when my mother was in a nursing home and our right to informed consent and then review of her medical records were being completely ignored by the "professional" staff. It tells you what your rights are so you can attempt to be a more effective advocate (winning against a nursing home is an unrealistic expectation).
I have suggested this book to friends who have parents in nursing homes - in other words, exactly the audience for which it is intended.

Map to the Wilderness, 2007-11-11 This book is a basic guide to the mystery of the nursing home, medicare, medicade system that is a maze of rules, regulations, and guidelines. It would be improved by a link to updated information since the rules change regularly.

A Very Useful Book, 2007-10-17 A terrific book. Well written, concise and understandable. I am an attorney; however, I have recommended this book to some of my clients and their children, as I feel it will help them through what ultimately will be a very difficult time.

Absolutely Essential Resource, 2007-06-26 This book was a life-saver for me. The world of nursing home care, patient's rights and insurance is a mystery to most of us, until we find ourselves in the situation where we face those issues, often suddenly and unexpectedly. The Baby Boomer's Guide gives understandable, clear advice and information, and anticipates the problems the patient and family are most likely to encounter. This book has helped me to identify and solve so many problems. The authors are to be commended for providing such a useful resource for all of us.

EVERYONE'S Guide, 2007-06-08 This book isn't just for "boomers" - it's for everyone who is helping a family member or friend who is or may become a nursing home resident. It's in plain language, and full of practical help. The Federal and state governments are doing a poor job enforcing the rules that are supposed to protect nursing home residents - it's up to family members and friends to be aware and assertive. Our non-profit agency (H.E.L.P. of Torrance, CA) assists older adults and families - we wholeheartedly recommend this book.
