Excellent book for the aspiring entreprenuer ..., 2008-04-20 Definitely an antidote if there ever is one, to the Walmart-ization and mega-mergers of today's corporate world, and shows that the entrepreneurial instinct is alive and well despite it all.
When I first got the book I read the first 140 pages the first night! The material was gripping, full of examples, case histories, and inspirational anecdotes about many small business and entrepreneurs that faced off against already established corporate giants such as GM, Walmart, and IBM. Each chapter is full os examples and tips on how to reclaim that competitive advantage that has been seemingly lost in today's world of monopoly capitlism, and shows how the small player can tip the scales in the world of business. Definitely a MUST READ for the aspiring entrepreneur or business major who would like to see a more optimistic side of business today.

Excellent mentoring for the small company, 2007-03-20 Author Daniel Lowery uses the story of David and Goliath as an object lesson for businesses. In this book Lowery skillfully discusses the challenges faced by small business in a world of corporate giants. Throughout the book there are examples of how large corporations typically attack and consume smaller companies and how smaller companies can not only defend themselves but thrive in this environment by actually taking advantage of the features of corporate giants.
Some of the items discussed include how to deal with price wars, supply problems, changing rules, and employee hijacking. How to choose your weapons instead of having your opponent choose them for you and many other clear illustrations of how large corporations take advantage of their size and how those strategies can be defeated.
An excellent book for the small business person, Battling the Corporate Giants is easy to read, easy to understand, insightful and highly recommended.

Interesting look at business, 2007-01-03 Subtitled: The Ultimate David and Goliath Story
Sam Walton is dead. Bill Gates is a gazillionaire. Steve Jobs wears jeans and sneakers to shareholder meetings. Donald Trump makes television shows. It doesn't seem possible, in the 21st century, for a small business to make it, and yet, we want it to--so desperately. If there isn't any hope for the entrepreneur, then American business is not far behind.
Enter Daniel L. Lowery and his first book, Battling the Corporate Giants: The Ultimate David and Goliath Story, on how to create a successful business. In this common-sense approach, Lowery uses the Bible story of David and Goliath to illustrate techniques and traits that small business can capitalize on in order to make it against the giant corporations that dot the American culture and landscape.
I usually don't read business books, but I found Lowery's approach fascinating. As a struggling entrepreneur, I found Lowery's methodology easy to understand. And because I don't usually read this genre, I particularly found myself highlighting and paper clipping the end of each chapter. There he provides the corporate strategy and the countermeasures that a small business owner can affect.
I have gone back Lowery's advice time and time again. It gives me courage and hope. And what more can a person ask of any book, regardless of genre.
Armchair Interviews says: Good advice for those starting or operating a small business.

A Battleplan for Small Business Success, 2006-12-21 Masterfully and entertainingly written this book explains the giant's playbook for exploiting under prepared and under capitalized small businesses then provides a superior new battle plan that shows you not just how to prepare and counterattack, but when to go on the offensive and strike the giant with the fatal head shot.
Having less resources to recover from the giant's exploits this book is a great investment for small businesses looking for a way to avoid the giant's traps and learn from the costly often fatal mistakes made by others. I found the author's point of view (David-the small business person) refreshing and highly recommend reading the book as a road map for small business success to where and how this difficult uphill battle can be won.
