Product Description
Featuring 18 fashionable patterns that take crochet into new territory, this beginner-friendly book of projects dispels the "unhip" reputation of crochet with designs that are edgy and stylish. Projects include jewelry, thigh-high stockings, retro bags, scarves, sweaters, shrugs, camis, and home décor objects, exploring color, texture, design, embellishment, and how to customize patterns to fit personal style. Basic crochet techniques are covered along with tutorials on sizing, design, and special techniques. Up-and-coming designers are profiled throughout the book to give an entertaining and inspiring insight into this new generation of crocheters, what inspires them, how they find community with other crocheters, and creative ideas for breaking the rules and representing their individual crochet style.

Watch pattern measurements, 2008-09-08 I had a chance to thumb through this book and ordered it for the patterns that I saw in it. I completed the wrap skirt and found that the pattern measurements were incorrect. I made it for a small person and ended up giving it to a plus size person. I plan to redo it and adjust the pattern.

Crochet me, 2008-09-08 I purchased this book for the sweater on the front, which I have not had a chance to do yet. There are several items in this book that I would make. I did get to complete the wrap skirt and found that the measurements are incorrect. I made it for a small person and had to give it to a plus size person. I will be remaking it and adjusting the pattern.

Beautiful to look at but..., 2008-08-08 This is the kind of book I love to look at but somehow I never make any of the patterns within it. Other books inspire me to get my hook out right now but the projects in this book don't excite me (well, the stockings are exciting, but not something I'll make). I commend the designers for original, non-frumpy (for the most part) projects and the lovely photography certainly adds to the appeal, but this is one book that sits on my bookshelf.
Maybe it is because there are several sweaters presented. Sweaters are fine but not the only thing worth crocheting. Crochet dresses can be beautiful but I think they are fairly unflattering on the whole. Again, the stockings are interesting but not something I'm going to make. The Deco jewelry is worth a look but not exciting enough to warrant working in that small of detail work.
The idea is a good one; I just wish there had been a few more revolutionary ideas in Crochet Me.

Some fun patterns, 2008-06-16 This pattern book has been the "end all, be all" on many sites. However, it wasn't what I thought it would be - not that it's a bad thing. I thought it was all clothes for women, but it has a little bit of lots of things. I am not into little bits of lots of things, so when I buy a book I want it to be what I thought - women's clothes. I love the dress by Amy O'Neill Houck, but could have done without the stockings, the swirly sweater, the scarf, jewelry, or the toys. Not that they are bad - they are for younger people and I'm as old as dirt! Also, the patterns tend to be for flatter chested ladies, of which I am not one. That being said, they do try to make some amends by giving hints on how to remedy that. Of course, anything in tapestry by Carol Ventura is worth the buy. For me, however, the book lends itself for more toward gifts for others rather than something for me.

I'm inspired, 2008-04-03 This book will help crochet to continue it's current "comeback" and take it to the next level! Reading about the designers and what inspired the creations in the book was interesting and reading the suggestions for making each crochet project your own was nothing less than inspirational! I look forward to using some of the things I learned in this book for my own crochet revolution!
