Product Description
This book provides a simple and much-needed analysis of one of the most often used and widely misunderstood phrases in American history. Discover the Founding Fathers' views on the positive influence of religious values on public policy as well as the background behind Thomas Jefferson's famous 1802 letter employing the "separation of church and state" phrase. Significantly, for more than a century and a half after its introduction, courts correctly interpreted Jefferson's phrase as a mandate to protect Christian expressions in the public square, and only in recent years has the phrase been remade into a judicially-enforced policy of public secularism. This book offers an engaging and easy to read overview of one of the greatest public policy debates in contemporary America.

True History

This book is a must read! This is truly where our nation built the foundation to becoming the most sought after place to live. Liberal leaders are destroying the very foundation of the truly God given principles for laws, truth and morality. If the U.S. continues down the path, we are doomed. There needs to be a repentance of thinking of self and a return to humility and seeking God to be our guide. Look at the financial mess of 2008, all due to greed!

The real perspective
, 2008-04-08
This book is exactly what the title says it is, the founding father's view of religion's place in government and government's place in religion. Mr. Barton describes the origin of the phrase "seperation of church and state" (which isnt in the constitution)and describes how this phrase has been used contrary to its original purpose. This is a great book, easy to read, and well worth buying.

A short overview
, 2008-02-06
This booklet provides a concise summary of what the founders really intend the relationship to be between Church and State. Despite what we hear today the Founding Fathers believed that Church could and should influence politics and government for the good of all. An interesting and quick read.
