Well-thought out and provides practical information. I only wish I had read it years before! It will be a great reference for me and my daughters for years to come.
Worth the time to ponder and the thoughts it provokes. Insightful!
Thanks for such a great book, as we all need this!

5 out of 5 starsKnowledge is Power, 2008-09-04
As a psychotherapist in private practice I find self help books to be like the girl with the curl; when they are good they are very good, but when they are bad they are awful. Jana Cole Bertrand's book, Beware the Red Flag Man, falls in the very good category. As a matter of fact, very, very good. Jana Bertrand is specific, thorough and articulate as she lays out the characteristics of the Red Flag Man. Her illustrations illumnate her description of the Red Flag Man and show these characteristics in action. Jana describes equally as well the consequences of the victimization process that happens with The Red Flag Man and its reverberating effects. Beware the Red Flag Man is an empowering book for women of all ages to read, whether reading to learn how to avoid the Red Flag Man or to recognize the trap one is already in.
Thank you Jana Bertrand for a book that describes what women need to know in order to make informed choices and take better care of themselves.

1 out of 5 starsDon't waste your money or time, 2008-08-17
I had high hopes for this book. Unfortunately, it's just not worth the money or the time to read it. I was extremely frustrated reading this book. It is not well-written at all. Numerous examples the author provides merely state that a woman married or went out with a man that was controlling or a liar, etc. and doesn't provide the things the man did when they were dating that the woman could have recognized as red flags! The author had an opportunity to provide clear cut examples of how to recognize a red flag man early on (before making a commitment to him). Instead, she says things like - avoid a man who lies or is controlling. Gee - many red flag men put up a facade until they have you committed to them and then they drop that facade and show their true lying, controlling, cheating, etc. colors. Dear Abby has a list of things to watch our for that are early warning signs of a controlling man who is a potential abuser. That's a free list and is much more informative than this entire book. This book was a huge disappointment.

5 out of 5 starsWhat every woman should know., 2008-06-25
After reading this profound book, I realized my life might be totally different if I had read this book in high school and especially in college. The author gives insight on identifying, recognizing, and dealing with a red flag man. Her easy to read chapters and real life experiences of various women, make it a most interesting book. I would recommend it be a 'must read' for all high school girls. If we would all take the author's practical suggestions, the whole world would be a more loving and peaceful place.

5 out of 5 starsBeware The Red Flag Man, 2008-06-17
This book is a must. It is well written and reads easily. It is very specific in describing "The Red Flag Man". As you read the book it becomes clear, very quickly, how to identify this type of person.
The checklist at the end of the book is most helpful. I think the author, Jana, has written a prize winner. She will be helping millions of people out there that are about to enter a bad relationship or are already in one. My hat goes off to you, Jana Cole Betrand.
