From the supplier: The National Association of Insurance Commissioners has given a three-state subcommittee the responsibility to amend the draft of its assumption reinsurance model law, following insurance industry response to the proposal. The law calls for multi-state licensing for assuming companies and for states to provide guaranty fund coverage to residents in the event of assuming carrier bankruptcy. Some insurance companies fear the law, which is planned to become effective in Dec 1992, will inhibit reinsurance activity.
