From the supplier: The IRS' adoption taxpayer identification (ID) number (ATIN) is a temporary taxpayer ID number for a child still in the process of domestic adoption where the adopting taxpayers have not been able to obtain or do not have that child's social security number. Taxpayers who are in the process of adopting a child should apply for an ATIN but to do so, will need to satisfy all of four requirements outlined by the IRS.
