Product Description
David, a twenty-eight-year-old artist, is recovering from a bad breakup with the mysterious and beautiful Sienna when he discovers a woman's dead body half-buried on the beach near Lompoc, California.

To his surprise, David is interviewed not just by the local sheriff, but by FBI agent Krane, who declares that the woman was killed in a ritualistic manner. Soon the dead woman is identified as David's ex-girlfriend, and he becomes the prime suspect in her murder. But Sienna can't be dead; she keeps leaving messages on his answering machine. And no matter how badly their relationship ended, he couldn't have killed her. She was the love of his life.

In self-defense, David begins his own investigation, trying to find out who the dead woman really is and what's behind the satanic murder. He's both helped and hindered by his friends, especially Julie, whom he had a crush on in high school and who has suddenly reappeared in his life, and the Reverend Pomus, who tries to warn David of the reality of true evil.

David's search for Sienna and the truth about her disappearance take him from coastal California to New York City to Florida-and into the darkest night of his soul.

5 out of 5 starsExtraordinary novel, 2008-07-28
"The Blind Mirror" was a great surprise. I did't know the author before and the novel was extraordinarily well buit. You must to wait till the last paragraph at the last page to understand de enigma. I could't stop reading the book from the middle to the astonishing end. In hands like Devid Lynch's it would result on an over-the-top movie.

3 out of 5 starsNot the average Christopher Pike novel, 2008-05-01
I had expected more from this book, but was ultimately not too disappointed. Like other works by Pike, the story was abstract and paranormal. There seemed to be heavier Christian overtones to this piece than much of his other work, which has more of an Eastern Religion flavor. I was disappointed by how belabored and pedantic the actual writing was. I noticed after several chapters the absence of contractions except in dialog. Possibly this contributed to the feeling of being 'talked down to.' Metaphors seemed strained and similes bordered on ridiculous: "He was as wrinkled as a load of laundry."
It felt like Pike took one of his Young Adult titles, expanded it by a hundred pages or so and added a lot of sex and swearing. However, the idea behind the plot was good and the payoff at the climax of the text is acceptable. The first half of the book read more like a detective novel and the second half like hard core science fiction. That's a decent mix for me, but others might be put off by the rather abrupt shift.
Altogether an engaging book for fans of Pike's work.
(My husband, who was reading Pike for the first time did not like it at all. I thought it was okay.)

5 out of 5 starsOne in a few, 2008-01-18
Ever since I have finished the chain letter 2 in middle school I knew from that Pike was a great author. So when I saw this book on the book self in the book store I brought it that day. I did not finish the book in a few days it took me a week or two because I read book at a slow pace. In the end when I had finish the book I was impress with the book itself. It was a good book better than most books I had finished reading. I am still unsure whether I like the ending of the book or not. It took me a couple of time reading the ending over and over and over to really understand what he was trying to get past to the reader. Don't get me wrong the ending was brilliant I just hate how he just kill off the main character like that. He make you think while you reading the book. The book is going to be a classic.

5 out of 5 starsI couldn't put it down!, 2007-12-02
The whole concept was amazing, the book kept me guessing until the last moment and the end leaves you feeling disturbed but satisfied. Christopher Pike always has a knack for creating stories within his stories and his vampire saga within this story was a pleasure to read as well. Def a great read!
