I'm giving this book 1 star because there were two chapters in this entire book I found to be somewhat helpful. One was on forgiveness, and the other on anger. The author describes herself as hardhearted and I have to admit I'm the same way. I don't know that I could ever follow her description of real forgiveness, but it was an education for me. The chapter on anger I mentioned before had some good advice for the root cause of anger.
Okay, now to the down side of this book. Unless you are a devout Christian, this book is probably going to annoy you a bit. It places most of the blame on the wife, and asks you, the wife, to commit to fixing the relationship all by yourself with the hope that your husband might change if you be the bigger person long enough.
I agree with the author that we see so many poisonous things on tv, movies, and novels that get our heads thinking we deserve all the romance and happiness in the world and we shouldn't settle until we find it. Should we just be happy with a guy who is there, but not all those things we hoped for ourselves? Maybe so.
I don't feel like this book helps to fix things and it's certainly not a book to read with your husband! The ammunition it would provide him with and the feeling of superiority he would have is the last thing we need!! It is a book, however, that can help you to be a little more positive in your thinking; which there's about a million other books out there that would do a better job at that.
My advice is to find a book that is more suitable for reading together as a couple and work on things simultaneously together.

Not so much..., 2007-11-11
I guess I didn't read far enough into the reviews to know that this is so Christian-based. I am sure others would appreciate that, but it turned me off immediately.

Read this before you file for a divorce, 2007-10-04
As an author of a divorce book, it might seem strange that I am recommending a book on how to save your marriage. But I firmly believe that a couple should do everything they can to try and save their marriage, if possible, barring any physical or mental abuse. Read this book before you file for divorce, if after reading it you still see divorce as your only option, at least you will know that you did everything in your power to save your marriage before getting a divorce.

I read the book and it's a good book, but the book did not save my marriage. My husband wants a divorce.

Makes you think, but hasn't totally changed my life, 2007-07-27
I bought this book because I was really struggling with my marriage, contemplating divorce, yes even as a Christian. I married someone 25 years older then me and I was 18 at the time. The generation difference affects soo many areas in our life and it was just too much for me. Anyhow I ordered this book when I was on my last string and it is very helpful. I highlighted so many things in this book and she is very direct and gives you very hard instructions. Maybe I need to reach that point of being changed but I was expecting this book to totally transform my life, but only God can do that. It is a great book and It gives great Biblical advice. I'd recommend it. I just need to be "transformed" ( those are my words, not anyone elses ) and then the advice in the book will be more useful. Get this book, it really could save your marriage.
