Product Description Uncommon valor in the line of duty and unconditional devotion in the name of love are the salient qualities of the daring men and women who risk it all in the heart-pounding thrillers of New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Brockmann. Crafted with precision and power, her characters come alive with a depth of emotion few writers have achieved. Now, with Breaking Point, Brockmann breaks even further through the pack and delivers a stunning payload.
As commander of the nation’s most elite FBI counterterrorism unit, agent Max Bhagat leads by hard-driving example: pushing himself to the limit and beyond, taking no excuses, and putting absolutely nothing ahead of his work. That includes his deep feelings for Gina Vitagliano, the woman who won his admiration and his heart with her courage under fire. But when the shocking news reaches him that Gina has been killed in a terrorist bombing, nothing can keep Max from making a full investigation–and retribution–his top priority.
At the scene of the attack, however, Max gets an even bigger shock. Gina is still very much alive–but facing a fate even worse than death. Along with Molly Anderson, a fellow overseas relief worker, Gina has fallen into the hands of a killer who is bent on using both women to bait a deadly trap. His quarry? Grady Morant, a.k.a “Jones,” a notorious ex-Special Forces operative turned smuggler who made some very deadly enemies in the jungles of Southeast Asia . . . and has been running ever since. But with Molly’s life on the line, Jones is willing to forfeit his own to save the woman he loves.
Together with Max’s top agent Jules Cassidy as their only backup, the unlikely allies plunge into a global hot zone of violence and corruption to make a deal with the devil. Not even Jones knows which ghosts from his past want him dead. But there’s one thing he’s sure of–there’s very little his bloodthirsty enemies aren’t willing to do.
Count on the intense action and raw honesty that Suzanne Brockmann consistently delivers, as she goes for broke in Breaking Point–and never looks back.

OK action romance story, 2008-07-29 I have not read any of the other books in this series, so I appreciated all the back story and found it helpful. While the writing is generally very good, I thought the story fell a little flat towards the end. Some of the action (like the simultaneous terrorist attacks) seem incidental to the story. I found this confusing. As a romance, I never really warmed up to Max and Gina but I did like the secondary characters Molly and Jones. Really liked the Jules character and would like to see more of him. Can anyone tell me what is up with these action heroes who never ever sleep? These guys are starting to get on my nerves...

Sigh......Max, 2008-06-25 The first book I read by SB was 'Gone too Far', so I had to get BP. (I am now going back to read all of them). I am a big sucker for the guy who keeps it all bottled up until he has a severe physical and emotional outburst (not resulting in harm of anyone but himself). And that is Max. I love that Gina totally gets under his skin in order to make him admit his feelings. I also think you have to give the author some leeway in this genre. Yes, if they were actually in a bad situation humor would probably not come into play but its a romance novel.
If you like the guy I described above, a girl who tortures him on purpose so he will open up, an entertaining gay sidekick, and sex on the kitchen table, this is your kind of book.
When I read the whole series, I will read this one again. I almost cant wait.

confusing, 2008-05-05 I liked the story and the tension and the romance--but the hopping around on time periods made this book hard for me because it stopped me just at the point I should have been drawn into the next scene. I had to wonder--as have several other readers--why in the world did she write it this way? Didn't her editor or a few of her readers notice this was not a good technique? There must be some reason I've never read another book in my very LONG life as a rabid reader a book structured like this. Perhaps because it messes up the flow of the story?
For me it was a big-named author attempting something creative (which I applaud) but which really messed up the book and continuity--which I can't praise.

I enjoyed seeing Gina and Max again!, 2008-02-14 I have become a huge Brockmann fan and love the series. And any opportunity to revisit Max Bhagat and Gina Vitagliano is worth it. In this installment of the Troubleshooter series, Max is devastated when he learns that Gina was killed in a terrorist bombing in Germany. Filled with regrets about what could have been and torn because he never admitted to Gina how he felt, Max, along with Jules Cassidy embarks on a journey to bring Gina's body home. The last time Max saw Gina, pushing her away (because he felt that the age difference was too much to overcome) she was headed to Kenya, to work with AIDS victims. Torn between duty and happiness, he did what he thought was best by letting Gina go, although he did not want to. After realizing that it is not Gina who was killed in the bombing, Max sets out to determine just "what has happened" to the love of his life? Gina, along with her good friend, Molly are in serious danger over their connection with Molly's old lover, David Jones. As the plot twists and turns, you are taking into a world of terrorism, politics and much more. I enjoyed this novel, and can't wait to read the next. It is already on my nightstand.

Max and Gina - finally, 2008-01-23 Special Agent Max Bhagat is in love with Gina Vitagliano, but has never acted upon it. Max was witness to Gina's rape and beating by terrorists and can't seem to let it go. But when he learns Gina has been killed via a terrorist bombing in Germany, he immediately heads overseas to claim her body. When he discovers that Gina is still alive, Max is not only greatly relieved, but on a quest to find her, come hell or high water. Gina has been kidnapped along with Molly Anderson, her fellow overseas relief worker, by an Asian killer who is after Molly's husband, Grady Morant. Max and Grady, along with Max's friend and best agent, Jules Cassidy, team up to rescue the women, even if it means losing their own lives, which becomes a very real danger.
Brockmann is tops at thrills-and-chills romantic suspense, filled with nonstop action and heated romance. And, of course, the HEA ending. Max is a favorite character, and this book does him justice.
