Product Description An international bestseller certain to appeal to fans of The Last Templar—the thrilling first book in a sweeping medieval trilogy
On the eve of the last Crusade, two men’s destinies will come together as two great civilizations go to war. Amidst conspiracy and intrigue in Europe, Will Campbell, a young knight, risks his life to recover the stolen Book of the Grail. Hidden within its pages are the heretical plans of a secret society within the Knights Templar. Meanwhile, the former slave Baybars Bundukdari and his army have taken over Egypt and Syria, and are planning a new Holy War to bring the Crusaders to their knees.
With breathtaking battle scenes, memorable characters, and a riveting mystery at its center, Brethren (being published simultaneously with book two, Crusade, in hardcover) is a heart-stopping historical drama that brings the Middle Ages vividly to life.

An exciting new author, 2008-08-20 I applaud this author for her fantastic insight and ability to bring ancient history to light. She has avoided the reprehensible habit of some american authors of trying to tell a story in 200 pages or less. I am impressed with the authenticity of the characters along with their customs and beliefs, so many times an author will try to bend things to suit current societal view points and it just doesn't work. I look forward to more of her work in the hopes that she continues her current writing style with the attention to detail. Robyn - keep up the good work.

Above average historical fiction., 2008-06-19 While there are some historical inaccuracies, I enjoyed the overall story. The influence of the Da Vinci Code is obvious, but the recounting of some of the major events in Crusader history is very fascinating.

Brethren could not get me involved., 2008-04-02 I recently finished reading Brethren and found that although the writing style is pretty good, I just could not get myself excited about this book. I enjoy historical fiction a great deal and found some of the periodism and cultural interactions interesting. Where the book failed to grab me was in two key areas. The characters were not that likeable or hateable. This may have been some attempt at realism and a comment on the duchotomies people face in their lives, but the distance this kept me at from these characters created what I would describe as reader apathy. Also the book is dark and violent, which is something I would often find interesting and exciting, but this book had an air of tragedy for the sake of tragedy, which is just not fun or rewarding. If I am going to read a book with violence and tragedy it needs to be tempered with either strong emotions for the characters or preferrable humor. This book comes of as a series of tragic events happening to a bunch of characters you only marginally care about.

The story continues..., 2008-03-08 I always worry that the second book in a trilogy will bog down or not measure up to the excitement of the first book but this second book in Ms Young's knights templar series doesn't disappoint. Though I think that the story is rushed at times I found the twist and turns very satisfying and found the conflict to be realistic and not excessively violent considering the time period. I look forward to the culmination in this series and I hope to read more from this exceptional historical fiction author.

Brethren, 2007-11-09 A very good plot premise that fails utterly in the execution. To put it mildly the main character is weak and overly emotional. This would be forgivable if the action was able to excite, but except for a few flashes of brilliance it is a complete waste of time.
