3 out of 5 starsThe Skies Sing to You, 2008-11-04
This was my first Bev Lewis novel and I expected it to be poetical about October's Bright Blue Weather. The beautiful sky at that time of year is caused by atmospheric conditions, according to my whiz-kid Mark. This book, instead of beautiful things, is about letting go of the past. She calls the telephone "the devil's instrument;" I'd read previously in Lee Smith's book some time ago that the violin (fiddle) is the devil's instrument.

This account of her daily happenings and beliefs is somewhat like a diary which I keep, boring. Her beliefs are so different from mine and so were tedious to read. I've been in Pennsylvania's Amish country and had good Mennonite friends in Pulaski, and was taught they are not the same. Traveling on Greyhound, I've observed young Amish males with two or more young wives, at least one with a baby. It's too bad we can't just be Catholic or Protestant. The would would be a peaceful song to sing to praise our Lord.

More wonderful writing by my favorite storyteller. Take me back home to Pennsylvania. It feels like being there in the pages.

5 out of 5 starsAnother "hit" for Lewis, 2008-06-27
What can I say, I LOVE Lewis's work. Love the comforting peaceful feeling of contentment when reading these books. Enough drama to keep it interesting and provide plot but not too much to make it unsettling. Continuation of the Postcard/Crossroads series.
