Current Yield Definition

The percentage paid out from a stock dividend or interest payments made on a bond, stated in terms of the current market price of the security. The current yield for a bond moves up or down as the price of the bond moves up or down. When the market price of a bond rises, the current yield will decline, and vice versa.
