Export-oriented

Export-oriented Definition

A export-oriented company is one which produces goods mainly for exports, rather than for the domestic market. The term is commonly used to describe factories in developing countries producing goods for developed countries.

Such companies are heavily dependent on the exchange rate, usually wanting their domestic currency to be weak, as this allows them to sell their products cheaply abroad.
