Golden Rule

Golden Rule Definition

Golden Rule as a financial term refers to a rule of fiscal policy. Its main concept is that current spending has to be financed from taxes over the economic cycle, and the government should only borrow money to raise funds for investment that benefits future generations. This means that the current budget must balance on average over an economic cycle.
