Herd Instinct

Herd Instinct Definition

Herd Instinct refers to the inborn attitude to associate with others and follow the group's behavior, especially towards conformity.  This mentality indicates that individuals often mimic  crowd behaviors like an animal herd. It also means the lack of individuality, and causes individuals lose their independence. In finance this behavior can be observed when people join rallies or sell-offs because many other traders are buying or selling an asset.
