Mortgage-backed bonds

Mortgage-backed bonds Definition

Bonds that are secured by mortgages. Unlike mortgage-backed passthrough securities, mortgage-backed bonds do not convey ownership of any portion of the underlying pool of mortgages. However, mortgage-backed bonds do offer a more predictable maturity and thus offer a form of call protection.
