Financial Accounting Standards Board - FASB is a not-for-profit private sector organization in the U.S. that establishes financial accounting and reporting standards. The purpose of the seven-member independent board consisting of accounting professionals is to define and communicate  the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and to govern the preparation of corporate financial reports.
